摘要: Changes in conformation of macrocyclic polyether (crown) molecules on complex formation with alkali and alkaline earth metal cations are described. An empirical relation (Brown Shannon) for metal-oxygen distance gives approximate electrostatic attraction terms while four different relations compared calculations conformational energies. Repulsive interactions between some methylene hydrogen atoms probably account the stoicheiometry 1:1 or 1:2 complexes benzo-15-crown-5.
