摘要: The presence and extent of coronary artery calcification (CAC) is established in primary prevention since the CAC score single best predictor future cardiovascular events. While progresses with increasing age, individual progression can be estimated based on subject's gender, percentile at first examination. To date, several algorithms methods for definition are available literature. Increased associated traditional risk factors including hypertension, diabetes, smoking status. Also, lipid-lowering therapy may influence CAC. Epicardial adipose tissue a further marker that lead to intensified if its volume increases. In terms clinical implications, initial data suggest extensive linked worse outcome; however, studies needed establish this relationship define appropriate time intervals between repetitive examinations. This review article gives an overview existing literature emphasis various definitions progression, predictors increased as well implications.
