Sociotechnical agendas : Reviewing future directions for energy and climate research

摘要: The field of science and technology studies (STS) has introduced developed a “sociotechnical” perspective that been taken up by many disciplines areas inquiry. aims objectives this study are threefold: to interrogate which sociotechnical concepts or tools from STS useful at better understanding energy-related social science, reflect on prominent themes topics within those approaches, identify current research gaps directions for the future. To do so, builds companion project, systematic analysis 262 articles published 2009 mid-2019 categorized reviewed perspectives in energy science. It identifies future employing method “co-creation” based reflections sixteen researchers late 2019 early 2020. Drawing co-created synthesis, first three main (sociotechnical systems, policy, expertise publics) with 15 39 subareas. then five development research: conditions change; embedded agency; justice, power, identity politics; imaginaries discourses; public engagement governance. also points recognized need pluralism parallax: show greater attention demographic geographical diversity; stronger designs; theoretical triangulation; more transdisciplinary approaches.
