摘要: Abstract A gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist, d -Trp 6 -LHRH, was evaluated for its effectiveness in reducing circulating testosterone concentrations wild Hawaiian monk seals ( Monachus schauinslandi ). Twenty-eight adult male were randomly divided into three groups: 10 captured and treated with 7.5 mg of the GnRH 9 but did not receive near end study to serve as handling controls. Blood samples taken from all 28 seals. From 14 58 days after initial capture, 8 untreated recaptured a second sample blood taken. For comparison, also collected 4 captive during same months field study. In group, agonist induced significant decline mean concentrations, 1.01 ng/ml (first sample) 0.21 (second sample, approximately 38 later). first statistically indistinguishable (1.11 vs 1.16 ng/ml).
