摘要: An intense downward field-aligned thermal ion flow and narrow band waves with frequencies just below the local gyrofrequency have been observed at equatorward edge of an auroral arc. The magnitude direction current required by measured dc electric field pattern are consistent measurements a differential drift between ions electrons 10–20 km/s. Such is sufficient to destabilize electrostatic cyclotron wave which has frequency spectrum near above in plasma reference frame. bandwidth oscillations agreement this mode, as range shown be Doppler shift due relative velocity rocket.
