摘要: Background: The relationship of psychological stress to relapse in ulcerative colitis (UC) is inconsistent. This may be due a failure identify patient characteristics, such as social support, which moderate the transduction from central nervous system immune system. In this study we tested hypothesis that support enhances parasympathetic modulation heart rate UC. Methods: An indirect measure autonomic function (heart variability; HRV) was measured 108 patients with UC remission during standard protocol involving periods stress, paced breathing, and relaxation. Social Support Questionnaire. Results: After controlling for age, strongly related HRV, both satisfaction (F = 5.7, significance 0.002) its interaction age 7.8, <0.001) were associated high-frequency measures rate. higher levels HRV at almost all points protocol. Neither nor differences LF/HF ratio, sympathetic rate. Conclusions: Social activity UC. Given previous evidence an antiinflammatory role system, suggests could serve mediating link between reduced inflammatory activity.
