摘要: Objective: To treat decompensated hepatitis C patient with interferon, ribavirin and amantidine to ascertain the sustained viral response. Study Design: Descriptive study. Place Duration of Study: Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad, from January 2007 2012. Methodology: HCV PCR patients C, who had developed a complication like ascites, encephalopathy or variceal bleeding were included in Those uncontrolled ascites other complications excluded. Treatment standard interferon 3 miU subcutaneously three times week along 800 mg 1200 100 b.i.d. was administered for 12 months. Patients followed every month CBC ALT performed after months document early They at end treatment All further another 6 monthly intervals this period Results: In all, 165 treated. be discontinued 42 (26%) patients. Out these, 16 died. Thus, 123 completed treatment. Sustained response documented 58 out (47%) Hepatic encephalopathy, gastrointestinal bleeding, sepsis development major during Conclusion: Forty seven percent cirrhosis able achieve one year anti-viral therapy.
