摘要: Phycoerythrin is a major pigmented component of the phycobilisome, cyanobacterial light-harvesting complex. It contains bilin-type chromophores that absorb and transfer light energy to chlorophyll protein complexes photosynthetic membranes. In many cyanobacteria, phycoerythrin expression regulated by wavelength in response known as chromatic adaptation. Green light-grown cells contain higher levels this biliprotein than do grown red light. The gene set from unicellular cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. strain PCC 6701 was cloned sequenced, 59 end mRNA localized. amino acid sequences subunits Fremyella diplosiphon were 90% identical. As observed F. diplosiphon, transcript accumulated high green low cells. Similar nucleotide sequences, which might control expression, occurred upstream transcription initiation sites genes both organisms. While structure light-regulated accumulation similar steady-state during growth quite different for two This observation suggests complex may involve posttranscriptional processes. We also characterized phycobilisome assembly mutants, UV16-40 UV16. Images
