Methods A web-based customized was constructed universally enroll all patients seen in consultation OM. Unique fields include demographics, physical exam findings, intervention, Major complications measured include: tympanic membrane perforation, retained tubes, chronic otorrhea, cholesteatoma formation. Results Six hundred thirty four unique have been prospectively enrolled. Five forty tubes followed extrusion. Outcomes demonstrate high prevalence OM factors associated including: 63% day care 26% sibling requiring tubes. Complication rates; 1% developed perforations 2.6% required removal extruded early ( Conclusions Long-term, outcome driven investigations assessing the management are needed given this disease frequency intervention required. The current represents largest cohort enrolled fashion has generated data demonstrating procedure significant improvement patient quality life short-term low complication rates long-term. This ongoing investigation providing that potential be important treatment algorithms, justification, factor modification.
