The aims of this study were: (1) estimate the spina in Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah and compare it with Eastern part Kingdom, (2) find out if consanguinity a risk factor. Methodology: A prospective was conducted over period April 1996 March 1997 city Al-Munawarah, Western Province, Saudi Arabia. New cases were studied compared control group 72 cases. Results: During period, 18 detected. 1.09 per 1,000 live births. male female ratio 2:1; however, not statistically significant. Consanguinity parents found 89% only 67% controls (p Conclusion: similar that reported Province significant
