摘要: Ultrasound (US) was initially applied mainly to detect pleural fluid; however, the applications of US for chest have been widely extended over time (Yang et al. 1992a; Pan-Chyr 1992; Civardi 1993; Ben-Ami Gehmacher 1995; Seibert 1998; Kim 2000; Wernecke Durand 2001; Williams 2003; Coley 2005). Although air in healthy lungs and calcium bony structures hinder transmission beam, lesions involving lung, mediastinum pleura can be studied through anatomical “acoustic windows”(supraclavicular, suprasternal, parasternal intercostal spaces), by transdiaphragmatic (subxiphoid subcostal) approach. Furthermore, lack costal cartilage ossification low bone mineral content infants facilitates transosseous (trans-sternal transcostal) scanning.
