Electrodesorption from single-crystal electrodes: analysis by differential electrochemical mass spectrometry

摘要: A newly designed thin-layer cell allows the use of differential electrochemical mass spectrometry (DEMS) for identification volatile desorption products from single-crystal electrodes. The sensitivity is in range a percent monolayer. This demonstrated case preadsorbed benzene on Pt(111) electrode. Contrary to polycrystalline electrode, mainly desorbed as such without H/D exchange; only minor part hydrogenated cyclohexane, which main product Oxidation adsorbate occurs two well-separated steps: In double-layer region partially oxidized adsorbed intermediate formed, CO{sub 2} oxygen adsorption region.
