摘要: PURPOSE OF REVIEW This article reviews the reconstructive techniques commonly employed in temporomandibular joint (TMJ) surgery with an emphasis on recent developments field. RECENT FINDINGS TMJ reconstruction remains one of most challenging tasks faced by surgeons who operate head and neck, a variety autogenous alloplastic available. The role needs to be reassessed light literature showing excellent long-term functional outcomes, which reflect advances prosthetic materials surgical technique. More recently, transport distraction osteogenesis has been applied ramus-condyle unit promising early results suggesting it may ultimately become standard care selected patients providing cost-effective approach low morbidity outcomes. SUMMARY myriad available options fact that evolving Although no gold currently exists, various each have their own proponents potential advantages drawbacks. Ultimately, surgeon must consider ablative defect underlying pathology, individual patient, resources institution capabilities team.
