摘要: Canavalia is a pantropical legume genus of lianas comprising approximately 60 species distributed in wide range habitats. In the last taxonomic revision, was divided into four subgenera: (Pantropical), Catodonia (Neotropical, excepting one also found Old World), Maunaloa (Hawaiian), and Wenderothia (Neotropical). this study, we reconstructed phylogeny using broad taxon sampling analyses nuclear (ETS ITS) plastid markers (trnK/matK). We evaluated infrageneric classification investigated its biogeographical history molecular dating ancestral area reconstructions. The phylogenetic resolved subgenus as monophyletic. Subgenus needs to be recircumscribed relationships between subgenera remain unclear. arose during Miocene with mean stem age estimate 13.8Ma crown 8.7Ma, most extant evolved Pleistocene. Several climatic geological events are chronologically coincident divergence major clades (glacial/interglacial periods, Andes uplift formation Pebas post-Pebas systems, closure Isthmus Panama, change direction ocean currents). Ancestral reconstructions for early equivocal, although, some evidence suggests originated wet forests South America achieved current distribution through recent transoceanic dispersal. evolution better explained by series several processes than discrete historical events.
