摘要: Introduction Chronic inflammation plays a key role in the pathogenesis of malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) as result asbestos exposure. Biomarkers systemic have been shown to predict natural history MPM; however, this observation lacks independent validation. Our aim was compare prognostic performance three inflammation-based biomarkers predicting overall survival (OS) MPM. Methods In patients with histologically proven MPM, scores modified Glasgow Prognostic Score (mGPS), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and platelet-to-lymphocyte were studied compared European Organization for Research Treatment Cancer (EPS) other known potential factors such gender, histologic subtype, Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group status, baseline blood parameters. Results A total 171 MPM presenting Imperial College NHS Trust studied. univariate analyses, following parameters predictors OS: female gender (p = 0.03), epithelioid histology normal C-reactive protein white cell count Conclusions The mGPS NLR are externally validated indices correlate sustained neoangiogenesis increased proliferative index.
