摘要: The goal was to evaluate the associations between testicular hormones at adolescence and exposure chlorination by-products when attending chlorinated swimming pools. We obtained serum samples from 361 school male adolescents (aged 14-18years) who had visited pools disinfected with chlorine or by copper-silver ionization. analysed concentrations of inhibin B (two different assays), total free testosterone, sex hormone-binding globulin, luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle stimulating (FSH) dehydroepiandrosterone sulphate (DHEAS). There were strong inverse levels (both assays) adjusted unadjusted for gonadotropins time spent in indoor pools, especially during their childhood. Adolescents having attended more than 250h before age 10years 125h 7years about three times likely have an abnormally low and/or testosterone (<10th percentile) peers never this type pool childhood (odds ratio, 95% CI, 2.83, 1.06-7.52, p=0.04 3.67, 1.45-9.34, p=0.006, respectively). Such not seen LH, FSH DHEAS attendance outdoor pool. Swimming is strongly associated lower testosterone. absorption reprotoxic across highly permeable scrotum might explain these associations.
