Kale (Brassica oleracea var. acephala) as a superfood: Review of the scientific evidence behind the statement

摘要: Kale (Brassica oleracea var. acephala) is a cruciferous vegetable, characterized by leaves along the stem, which, in recent years, have gained great popularity as ´superfood´. Consequently, popular culture it listed many ´lists of healthiest vegetables´. Without doubt, scientific evidences support fact that vegetables included human diet can positively affect health and well-being, but remains unclear why kale declared superior comparison with other cruciferous. It questionable if this statement about triggered evidence or some factors. Our review aims to bring an overview kale's botanical characteristics, agronomic requirements, contemporary traditional use, macronutrient phytochemical content biological activity, order point out reasons for tremendous popularity.
