The effect of intraocular ablation of the pecten oculi of the chicken.

摘要: The pecten oculi of 20 chickens was unilaterally ablated by intraocular electrocautery. Although the totally destroyed in 13 birds, retina remained histologically normal. All birds sustaining total lesion retained pupillary reflex and could peck up food avoid objects when control eye covered. pH 5 operated measured vivo averaged 7.35 (range 7.40 to 7.33) eyes 7.56 7.65 7.50) eyes. It is suggested that function not primarily nutritive may instead be related regulation.
