Depressive effect of oxalic acid on titanaugite during ilmenite flotation

摘要: Abstract Ilmenite and titanaugite have very similar physiochemical properties. Iron, titanium, calcium, magnesium, other metal ions exist on the surface of both minerals, making it difficult to separate two minerals. In this study, oxalic acid was used as a depressant in microflotation ilmenite depressive effect toward demonstrated. Through series microflotation, composition analysis, reaction thermodynamic calculations, XPS found significantly selectively inhibit titanaugite. Oxalic adsorbed onto mineral surfaces via chemical chelating with ions, predominately Ca 2+ . Therefore, depressed during flotation.
