摘要: In order to estimate the seroprevalence and explore multiple risk factors associated with Helicobacter pylori infection among residents in Taiwan, a total of 823 subjects randomly selected from one metropolitan precinct three townships were studied. Serum samples tested for IgG antibodies against H. by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay using commercial kits. The overall seropositive rate was 54.4% no gender difference (53.7% males 55.2% females). There significant geographical variation highest (63.4%) rural area where aborigines live, age-adjusted stomach cancer mortality is lowest (40.5%) urban Hakkas lowest. also an increasing age 27.1% children younger than 10 years old 72.3% adults aged more 40 old. Age-specific Taiwan higher that United States, France, Finland Australia, lower Algeria, Ivory Coast India. No association seropositivity observed drinking water source, toilet type, family income educational level after adjusting area. A dose-response relation between sibship size found. Upon further analysis 16 or younger, positive birth current number family; there inverse family. early childhood transmission siblings seems important determinant Taiwan.
