摘要: Abstract There is a wide body of literature wherein the micro-scale abrasion test has been employed to assess behaviour range vapour-deposited ceramic coatings. However, fundamentals process with materials in general (both monolithic form and as coatings) are not well understood. In this work, abrasive wear brittle was examined function particle type applied load. The three types slurries were alumina, silicon carbide diamond, similar size distributions all suspended water. It shown that relative rates depended strongly upon selected. When abrasives harder than testpiece question, dominated by angularity distribution abrasive. High distributions, observed alumina abrasives, resulted load being carried small number particles which lateral fracture high wear, whereas blocky (such diamond) larger thus restricted correspondingly low wear. when either softer or significantly testpieces, hardnesses operative mechanisms. previous it ball roughness promotes entrainment into zone throughout test. developed scar (due primary mechanism material removal) hinders further entrainment, testpieces smooth surface morphology (by plastic flow rather fracture) exhibit enhanced under conditions load) where other demonstrating limited entrainment.
