摘要: Size matters When considering outcomes of pregnancy, size at birth is among the most important characteristics a successful pregnancy. In addition to duration pregnancy and qualitative development fetus, anthropometric newborn baby considerable significance. Long before relatively modern concept gestational age was well understood, medical personnel recognized recorded size, particularly weight, babies, both mortality morbidity were correlated size. This persists even today, with terms such as “Low Birth Weight” infants, which do not incorporate an descriptor in public health arena. Similarly, first questions asked by parents, “How much does my weigh?,” reflection importance common understanding As practical issue, clinicians pay attention length head circumference, part because scales rulers are easily available accurate. Weight emphasized, measurement weight insensitive inter-observer error. Other measures, surface area, BMI weights raised various powers (e.g. wt 0.75 , 2 wt/length ) also use, but require more difficult calculation or measurement. The close paid convenience, than biological importance, other measures may closely relate importance.
