摘要: The aim of this work was to develop drug-soft contact lens combination products suitable for controlled release antimicrobial peptides on the ocular surface. Incorporation functional monomers and application molecular imprinting techniques were explored endow 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) hydrogels with ability load sustain polymyxin B vancomycin. Various HEMA–drug–functional monomer–cross–linker molar ratios evaluated prepare imprinted non-imprinted hydrogels. Acrylic acid-functionalized loaded greater amounts led more sustained profiles, in comparison non-functionalized networks. Polymyxin B-loaded showed good biocompatibility hen’s egg test-chorioallantoic membrane tests. Functionalized also vancomycin its release, but effect only exhibited B, as demonstrated rebinding Microbiological assays carried out Pseudomonas aeruginosa allowed identification most hydrogel composition efficient bacteria eradication; some being able stand several continued challenges against important bacterial pathogen.
