摘要: Honey has been shown to have anti-cancer effects, but the mechanism behind these effects is not fully understood. We investigated role of Malaysian jungle Tualang honey (TH) in modulating hematological parameters, estrogen, estrogen receptors (ER1) and pro anti-apoptotic proteins expression induced breast cancer rats. Fifty nulliparous female Sprague–Dawley rats were used grouped as follows: Group 0 (healthy normal control), 1 (negative control; untreated rats), Groups 2, 3 4 received daily doses 0.2, 1.0 2.0 g/kg body weight TH, respectively. The groups 1, 3, with 80 mg/kg 1-methyl-1-nitrosourea (MNU). TH treatment was started one week prior tumor induction continued for 120 days. TH-treated had tumors different physical attributes compared negative control rats; progression (mean 75.3 days versus 51.5 days); incidence 76.6% 100%); multiplicity 2.5 masses per rat); size mass 0.41 cm 1.47 cm [p < 0.05]) 1.22 g 3.23 g; [p < 0.05]). Histological examinations revealed that cancers treated mainly grades I II non-treated control, which majority grade III (p < 0.05). found modulate parameters such Hb, RBCs, PCV, MCV, RDW, MCHC, polymorphs lymphocytes values. a lower (E2, ESR1 Bcl-xL) higher pro-apoptotic (Apaf-1 Caspase-9) at serum on tissue level alleviates carcinogenesis through modulation hematologic, estrogenic apoptotic activities this experimental animal model. may be natural ‘cancer-alleviating’ agent or supplement chemotherapeutic agents.
