摘要: ABSTRACT This preliminary study compares the effects of a twice-daily meal sweet feed (SF) to free-choice molasses-based block (BL) on interstitial glucose patterns in horses. Six geldings were equipped with continuous monitoring systems and used crossover design over two 6-d periods. Diets consisted prairie hay either SF fed twice daily or access BL. Total intake was not different, 10.6 kg DM for horses both dietary treatments (P > 0.05). A novelty effect observed where consumed more BL first 12 h exposure than during any remaining time period. Mean concentration 3.55 ± 0.15 4.18 0.13 mM consuming BL, respectively = 0.44). Horses had an initial response that ranged from immediate 2 h, there second significant 1 per period 4 after feeding. The amount significantly positively correlated 3 multiple periods ≤ maximum correlation between r 0.25 0.42 third horse. Patterns postprandial varied effect, delay 15 min, 4.5 Glucose responses similar treatments, although variability among noted quantity as well timing magnitude responses.
