摘要: 1. Traditional community-based systems of managing coastal fisheries were (or in some cases are) successful resources at sustainable levels. These are used as models the present study. 2. They under-pinned by a sense ownership and intimate knowledge environment local people. 3. Such features have been largely lost, subsistence economies replaced capitalist ones, environmental management responsibilities shifted from communities to national or international government. 4. There are, nevertheless, examples that still operate successfully we believe modern practices, general, would benefit increased community involvement. This will require renewed emphases on feelings general public. 5. Environmental education fundamental role play achieving this goal. However, its impact schools universities has disappointingly ineffective so far promoting population is sufficiently knowledgeable well-motivated partake meaningfully processes. 6. It argued educational initiatives, which involve all ages sections society, required. Five promising possibilities are: (i) participation groups scientific projects; (ii) emphasis life-long learning; (iii) campaigns; (iv) citizens' juries; (v) involvement planning processes. 7. Wide-scale adoption innovations these kinds funding be achieved only re-assessments needs priorities.
