摘要: We apply a single-step, finite-fault waveform inversion procedure to derive coseismic slip model for the large MW 7.3 Papanoa, Mexico earthquake of 18 April 2014 using broadband teleseismic body waves. Inversion P and SH ground-displacement waveforms yields rupture characterized by two principal sources in northwest portion Guerrero coast. The region is also site several M > 7 earthquakes 1943, 1979 1985. A comparison with ruptures observed 1985 suggests that zones high do not spatially coincide, despite similarities size location their aftershock areas. are interpreted represent asperity areas along Cocos- North America plate boundary, limited spatial overlap from one event another indicates characteristics recurring thrust this western have repeated last 70 years. abutting nature asperities future likely involve interplate patches between where failure has been recently observed. Also, intervening regions may define locations seismic occur megathrust events. results important implications potential recurrence subduction estimation strong ground motions expected these
