摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter presents studies on atherogenesis and corneal transplantation using cultured vascular endothelia. Mesothelium endothelium are tissues composed of a single monolayer highly contact-inhibited flattened cells. Endothelia mostly found at the interface between fluid an organ, where they perform barrier function. Such is role endothelium, which prevents interaction nucleated anucleated cells (platelets) present in bloodstream with very thrombogenic subintimal surface. can also be involved active transport, being responsible for creation maintenance different ionic macromolecular concentrations extravascular spaces. functions particularly well developed endothelia blood–brain blood–retina barrier. The characterized vivo by polarity cell's surfaces. Its apical surface exposed to nonthrombogenic surface, whereas basal produces contact basement membrane. capacity grown tissue culture transplanted considerably enhanced rapidity plated reorganized themselves into when placed homologous or heterologous corneas denuded their endothelium. demonstration that substituted back may further simplify keratoplasty, becauseinstead species, one could use recipient coat its own cornea replace deficient
