摘要: Abstract Background Polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) are intrinsic cell membrane components and closely involved in neurotransmission receptor function. Lower omega-3 levels associated with increased risk of coronary artery disease (CAD), increases cardiac events CAD patients, depression. We sought to examine relationships between depression serum omega-6 PUFAs patients recovering from acute syndromes (ACS). Methods carried out a case-control study PUFA current major 54 age- sex-matched pairs approximately 2 months following ACS. Results Depressed had significantly lower concentrations total docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), higher ratios arachidonic (AA) DHA, AA eicosapentaenoic (EPA), n-3 n-6 than controls. There were no baseline differences any potential or protective factors for Conclusions consistent previous reports depressed without CAD, literature concerning events. Dietary, genetic, hormonal may all play role both CAD. Both prospective studies randomized trials needed help clarify the interrelationships.
