摘要: The major documented effect of auditory deprivation on visual processing is enhanced spatial attention, in particular to the periphery and moving stimuli. However, there a parallel literature that has reported deficits temporal aspects individuals with profound hearing losses. This study builds upon previous work showing possible rapid serial presentation streams deaf children [Restorative Neurology Neuroscience (2010), 28, 181–192]. Deaf native signers American Sign Language adults were asked perform 2-AFC identification task target embedded stream stimuli presented at 6 Hz. Both displayed attentional awakening, whereby accuracy improved as number preceding increased. For children, however, this awakening was less pronounced than observed interpreted difficulty sustaining entrainment stimulus stream. data provide first account it improves across 6–13 year age range. They also additional support possibility domain-general alterations information absence input.
