摘要: Abstract Treatment with agmatine, decarboxylated arginine, proved to be non-toxic and exert neuroprotective effects in several models of neurotoxic ischemic brain spinal cord injuries. Here we sought find out whether agmatine treatment would also prove beneficial a rat ischemia model (balloon occlusion the abdominal aorta bellow branching point left subclavian artery for 5 min). Agmatine was injected (100 mg/kg, i.p.) min after beginning re-perfusion again once daily next 3 post-operative days. Motor performance (‘combined motor score’) recorded up 17 days motoneuron cell counts (in representative sections) performed on 17th day. found accelerate recovery deficits prevent loss motoneurons transient ischemia. Together, present previous findings demonstrate that is an efficacious agent this naturally occurring compound should tried therapeutic use neurotrauma neurodegenerative diseases.
