Tubal sterilization in an indigent population

摘要: This study comprises follow-up data of 790 patients undergoing tubal ligation at a hospital serving medically indigent population. The incidence for the years 1955 through 1968 was 2.1 per cent. most common indications were multiparity, previous cesarean section and sociomedical circumstances. Patients studied high risk subsequent gynecologic disease. Four hundred eighty-nine followed period 3.5 years or more. There 10 failures (2 cent) operation 178 (36.2 underwent some form operative procedure during period, 63 (12.9 whom required total hysterectomy. Fifteen developed carcinoma cervix, 2 died their authors conclude that whose history identifies them as disease, in general, to particular, might be better served hysterectomy chosen method sterilization rather than ligation.
