摘要: Abstract We have studied by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) the two charge-density wave (CDW) transitions in NbSe3 on situ cleaved ( b , c ) plane. could identify three types of chains existing inside a single unit cell as well characterize how both CDWs are distributed these elementary chains. also followed between 5 and 140 K temperature dependence first-order CDW satellite spots, obtained from Fourier transform STM images, to extract surface critical temperatures T s . Whereas high-temperature appears comparable bulk one, low-T transition occurs at 2 = 70 – 75 K more than 15 K above 59 while exactly same number. A reasonable mechanism for such an unusually high enhancement is softening transverse phonon modes involved formation.
