摘要: We investigated inbreeding in 3 outport Newfoundland study areas which persistent genetic isolation was demonstrated previously. The coefficient of every person born each area calculated from reconstructed pedigree data. average for persons between 1960 and 1979 is 0.0032 Trepassey Parish (southern Avalon Peninsula), 0.0171 a group communities on the west coast Great Northern Peninsula, 0.0007 southeastern Labrador. Average these populations higher earlier this century. Averages are high compared to those reported other populations, consistent with isolation. Coefficients kinship were large samples pairs births area, frequency distributions coefficients coefficients, evaluate random nonrandom mating respect consanguinity. These comparisons show that matings unrelated individuals more frequent than expected, first cousins not strongly avoided 2 areas, once removed favored, distantly related becoming frequent. To gain an impression potential contribution prevalence recessive disease, we indirect estimates expected excess prereproductive mortality due inbreeding. 15% Parish, 49% West Coast 2% It unlikely will decrease. Elevated prevalences primarily unaware their distant consanguinity, therefore require consideration health care planning Newfoundland.
