摘要: Azotemia and extrarenal manifestations in old female Han:SPRD (cy/+) rats. In humans suffering from polycystic kidney disease (PKD) a gender difference is seen with males exhibiting faster rate of progression chronic renal failure than females. The aim this study was to examine function rats autosomal dominant PKD [Han.SPRD (cy/+)] look for the occurrence organ PKD. young (2 months) as well (21 relative weight greater affected unaffected animals. contrast, only developed azotemia (serum urea 95 ± 124 mg/dl) severe cystic transformation. Furthermore, exhibited liver cysts (affected 42%; 3%) pancreatic 69%; 15%). Liver cyst epithelia stained positive cytokeratin 19, marker bile duct epithelia. By immunohistochemistry similar extracellular matrix composition observed same animals (staining laminin, fibronectin heparan sulfate proteoglycan, but not collagen I). This proves HamSPRD rat model be truly multiorgan close resemblance human disease.
