摘要: Rock art is the best known evidence of Saharan fragile heritage. Thousands engraved and painted artworks dot boulders cliffs in open-air sites, as well rock walls rockshelters caves located main massifs. Since its pioneering discovery late 19th century, captured imagination travellers scholars, representing for a long time aim research area. Chronology, meaning connections between different recognized artistic provinces are still to be fully understood. The central massifs, particular "cultural province" encompassing Tadrart Acacus Tassili n’Ajer, played play key role this scenario. Recent analytical contextual analyses contexts seem open new perspectives.
