摘要: Pheromone communication systems have a reliable signal with restricted window of amounts and ratios released perceived. We propose model based on Gaussian response profile that allows quantification the peak (location optimum) measure width (response window). Interpreting curve, fitted by nonlinear regression (NLR), as standard normal distribution, location equals mean (μ) 2× deviation (2σ). The NLR procedure can provide an objective for both wide range data sets. Four empirical sets well 10 literature were analyzed. double-spined spruce engraver, Ips duplicatus, was field tested in four populations to find optimum proportion attraction two male aggregation pheromone components, ipsdienol (Id) (E)-myrcenol (EM), ranging from 0 100% Id. Tests Norway Czech Republic confirmed preference western blend between 50 90% A population Inner Mongolia showed traps 50% Id baits. values (μ; 2σ) were: 0.64, 0.73; 0.53, NE China 0.77, 0.29; 0.33, 0.50. produced Norwegian field-collected males had narrower (2σ = 0.12). Males maize stem borer, Chilo partellus, flight tunnel their variation major female sex gland (Z)-11-hexadecenal corresponding alcohol (OH). Variation seven levels 2 29% OH highest 17% OH. For all behavioral steps, near μ 0.14, while fell 2σ 0.5 0.2 eight sequential steps take-off copulation. Female production similar (μ 0.13) but width, 0.14. Literature other moth species patterns, wider relative windows. enantiomer hymenopteran dipteran also described our model. In bark beetle (Ips pini), hybridizing enantiomeric strains, peaks (0.1) than (0.5). Thus, it general, seems analyzed, 0.1 0.8) is larger 0.03 0.14), irrespective sender.
