摘要: Mass-screening application of the cytological smear for detection cervical cancer has been limited by a lack technicians to screen smears. By using an instrument identify automatically those smears which are clearly negative, effectiveness technician could be greatly increased. A quantitative analysis large number showed that positive usually had small cells with abnormally and intensely stained nuclei did not appear on negative On basis this analysis, experimental instrument-called Cytoanalyzer-has constructed. The Cytoanalyzer scans smear, measures size light absorption approximately 10,000 classifies each cell normal or abnormal according its nucleus absorption, totals falling into classification. is then classified depending fraction having characteristics. Preliminary tests have very promising. In test 1000 smears, 65 per cent premenopause 35 postmenopause were properly identified.
