摘要: Abstract During a period of 4 months prior to the 1978–1979 breeding season, total 157 Magellanic penguins (Spheniscus magellanicus) were found dead on 1 km beach in Golfo San Jose, site vicinity largest nesting colony for this species Argentina. Sixty-two 91 adults (68%) oiled, but only one 66 immatures was oil-stained. Of with oil side only, three times as many stained left right. The absence oiled seen at nearby colonies supports hypothesis that these birds are not fit breed.
