Publication rates of abstracts presented at annual scientific meetings: how does the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists compare?

摘要: The abstract to publication ratio (APR) is a measure of the quality scientific meetings. aim present study was determine rate abstracts presented at annual Royal Australian and New Zealand College Radiologists (RANZCR) conferences, identify publishing journals. All free paper research (oral or poster) by RANZCR radiologists, radiation oncologists trainees four consecutive meetings between 1996 1999 were identified retrospectively from conference programmes. PubMed database (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/PubMed/) searched whether not had been published as full paper. Of 480 abstracts, 168 (35%) articles. overall for radiology 29% oncology 41%. Papers in variety journals but Australasian Radiology accounted 27%. mean time presentation 16.5 months (median 17 months). These ratios are lower than those reported overseas-based each respective area. Guidelines committees could increase APR more rigorous selection abstracts. Future should look barriers findings, ways assist process.
