摘要: Abstract Spatio-temporal generation patterns for wind and solar photovoltaic power in Europe are used to investigate the future rise transmission needs with an increasing penetration of VRES (variable renewable energy sources) on pan-European electricity system. growth predictions according official National Renewable Energy Action Plans EU countries extrapolated logistically up a fully VRES-supplied We find that keeping today's international NTCs (net transfer capacities) fixed over next forty years reduces final need backup by 13% when compared situation no NTCs. An overall doubling will lead 26% reduction, quadrupling 33% reduction. The remaining is due correlations patterns, cannot be further reduced transmission. main investments lines during ramp-up from 15% (as planned 2020) 80%. Additionally, our results show how optimal mix between shifts about 70% 80% share as grid enhanced. Finally, we exemplify reinforced affects import export opportunities single ramp-up.
