Unraveling Trauma and Stress, Coping Resources, and Mental Well-Being Among Older Adults in Prison: Empirical Evidence Linking Theory and Practice

摘要: Purpose of Study: A theoretical integration the life course perspective, cumulative advantage, disadvantage or inequality, and stress processing theories provide an important integrated lens to study relationship between accumulated interpersonal, social-structural, historical trauma stressful experiences on mental well-being in later life. DESIGN AND METHODS: This builds upon extant literature by examining mediating role coping resources experiences, post traumatic symptoms, among a sample 677 adults aged 50 older prison. RESULTS: The majority (70%) reported experiencing one more during their span. Participants also average 11 occurrences multilevel events lingering subjective distress related these events.
