摘要: This paper examines one approach to promoting creative and flexible use of mathematical ideas within an interdisciplinary context in the primary curriculum, namely, through modelling. Three classes 5th-grade children worked on a modelling problem (Australia’s settlement) situated curriculum domains science studies society environment. Reported here are cycles development displayed by group as they problem, together with range models created across classes. Children developed mathematisation processes that extended beyond their regular including identifying prioritising key elements, exploring relationships among quantifying qualitative data, ranking aggregating creating working weighted scores.
