摘要: Data from very high horizontal resolution simulations with the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory SKYHI general circulation model are used to calculate kinetic energy spectrum as a function of wavenumber, k, in upper troposphere. The shows familiar ∼ -3 slope at scales longer than 1000 km, agreement previous and observational studies. At shorter scales, becomes shallower -5/3, also available observations. -5/3 spans about decade resolved this result represents first successful simulation such broad range mesoscale regime by global model. Partitioning flow between rotational divergent components that part dominates large there is approximate equipartition parts mesoscales. Analysis parameterized dissipation vertical diffusion for wide wavenumbers extending well into k regime.
