摘要: We evaluated the clinical characteristics of patients with Francisella philomiragia (formerly Yersinia philomiragia) isolated from normally sterile sites. Isolates 14 were received by Centers for Disease Control between 1975 and 1987: 9 blood; 2 lung biopsies; 1 each pleural, peritoneal, cerebrospinal fluid. Underlying problems included chronic granulomatous disease in 5 patients, near-drowning 5, a myeloproliferative 2. All 13 whom records available had febrile syndrome compatible bacterial infection. Pneumonia fever-bacteremia commonest syndromes reported. In 7 cases, F. was only sterile-site isolate, did not resolve without appropriate antibiotics. Familiarity this organism is important because its ability to cause serious patients. Further study may yield new insights into pathogenic host defense mechanisms. Language: en
