摘要: Abstract Based on the theory of continental drift, occurrence feral and semi-feral melons in certain parts world, Mosaic, Biblic Koranic theories, watermelon is supposed to have originated Central Africa muskmelon south-eastern peninsular India. The present day these plants different world may be result dispersal by birds, animals man. present-day muskmelon, Cucumis melo , evolved from African horned melon, C. metuliferus . cucumber, sativus an off-shoot evolution muskmelon. In its various forms designations, has undergone numerous genetic, morphological biochemical changes before it acquired current form. paper presents earlier concepts which prevailed this subject, proposes some more probable theories.
