摘要: Publisher Summary Dairy processing in major dairy producing countries has undergone rationalization recent years, with a trend toward larger yet fewer plants operated less staff. Large have enabled the use of automated and more efficient equipment – including specialized processes such as membrane filtration, ion exchange, modern drying processes, thus increasing opportunity for recovery milk solids that were formerly discharged. In addition, sophisticated process control systems allowed improved efficiencies cost savings. However, large-scale manufacturing increases environmental burden on to smaller areas, loading impact liquid waste disposal, noise gas emissions vicinity plant. There are several aspects disposal continue be troublesome industry, acid whey, nanofilter permeates, mother liquor from lactose crystallization, clean-inplace waste, spent exchange regeneration brines. Although limited utilization many these by-product streams is due low returns economies scale, continued research optimization required overcome remaining technological barriers maximizing streams.
