In vitro augmented photodynamic bactericidal activity of tetracycline and chitosan against Clostridium difficile KCTC5009 in the planktonic cultures

摘要: Infection with Clostridium difficile (C. difficile) causes a severe colitis high recurrence. Treatment of C. infection (CDI) is based on antibiotics in spite the increase resistance. To interrupt vicious cycles such as new treatment and appearance resistance strains, photodynamic therapy (PDT) might be possible alternative for CDI. Tetracycline (TC) has been used broad spectrum antibiotic low risk CDI photosensitizer (PS) PDT. In vitro PDT against was conducted using UVA TC PS before vivo study. enhance antibacterial activity TC, we applied chitosan boostering agent. Bactericidal effects after PDT, were measured by counting viable cells, DNA damage membrane integrity. At 1mg/mL combined increased bactericidal effect >10,000-fold alone. Membrane cellular demonstrated EMA-qPCR also greater group treated PDT+chitosan than that The present study showed combination an effective method killing difficile.
