Sexual practices and their development pattern among jimma university students.

摘要: BACKGROUND: Traditional views of sexual behaviors are frequently changing as the factors influencing them changing. Therefore, assessing practices that not part tradition would be necessary. The objective this study was to identify types practices, their development pattern and how these patterns expose students sexually transmitted infections unplanned pregnancy. METHODS: A cross-sectional survey conducted on a sample 1986 (1612 males, 365 females, with 9 subjects’ gender indicated) Jimma university in August 2009 age ranging from 17-45 years (median = 20). Quantitative data collected using piloted, precoded questionnaire qualitative six focus group discussions. Logistic regression descriptive statistics were computed findings triangulated quantitative findings. P-value less than 0.05 considered significant. RESULTS: Practice penile vaginal intercourse, masturbation, kissing, oral sex, anal sex reported by 567 (28.9%), 688 (36.7%), 840 (42.4%), 179 (9.2%) 83 (4.3%) respondents, respectively. Respondents had two (one year one without condom) experience before marriage. Sixty percent those who exposed 46.6% both pregnancy infections. Forty seven practiced 29% did consider acts intercourse. Conclusions: University high risk groups need more focused research concerted health care. term ‘sexual intercourse’ should consciously defined for its future use Ethiopia. Furthermore, Service providers researchers address all practices.
