Recent trends in chlamydial and gonococcal conjunctivitis among neonates and adults in an Irish hospital.

摘要: Summary Background Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae are two important frequently overlooked causes of neonatal adult conjunctivitis. Objectives methods In order to improve primary treatment, prevention, control infection caused by these organisms, an analysis all cases presenting from July 2002 December 2006 at a major Irish regional teaching hospital was performed. Results There were 51 conjunctivitis in total. Among neonates adults, C. the most common cause Of patients, 75% men. The annual incidence chlamydial increased yearly correlated with overall increase genital chlamydia region. Neonatal has 0.65/1000 live births is continuing rise annually. 2006, gonococcal accounted for 20% sexually transmitted bacteria our hospital. Conclusions recent keratitis serves remind us that this should be borne mind when treating purulent diagnosis requires high index suspicion prompt treatment systemic antibiotics.
